The biggest difference lies in the shape of the bodyboard tail, the lower end of the board. A distinction is made between the crescent tail and the bat tail. The crescent tail has the shape of a flat crescent and gives the board slightly less flexibility when riding than the bat tail. However, this also makes it smoother to ride and more suitable for beginners or for steep waves, as the bodyboard reacts less strongly to shifts in the center of gravity and is therefore more forgiving. The bat tail is shaped like a bat's swing arm and gives the board much greater flexibility and turning ability, which is particularly beneficial when performing tricks. In order to positively influence the handling of boards with bat tails, so-called channels have been introduced on the underside of the board. These are intended to stabilize the board. There are now many different types of tails with different names, but they are all based on the two mentioned above.

The required board size corresponds to the measurement of your own body, measured from the floor to the hips +/-5 cm.
